Fritz on Shore

Fritz Glass, owned and operated by the husband and wife team of Fritz Lauenstein and June Raymond, has a family atmosphere. Friends gather here every day as well as visitors to watch Fritz work.

Customers can purchase one-of-a-kind glass pieces and also leave with a sense of community and, perhaps, a bucket of clams that Fritz dug that morning.

Fritz's family is from Cape Cod and he will gladly talk about clamming or fishing. "I love the Cape and there's nothing like the thrill of hooking up to a striped bass or bluefish," Fritz said recently. Looking around his studio it sometimes seems that there are more fishing rods than blow pipes.

Fritz started blowing glass in 1974 at Gould Academy in Bethel, Maine. He then attended Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont and the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, Massachusetts.

In 1984 he and his wife, June, moved to the Cape. Fritz worked at various fishing jobs and started working at Chatham Glass. In 1991 he and June opened Fritz Glass in Dennisport, Massachusetts.

Collectors from all over the globe seek his work. Fritz is known as one of the top marble makers in the country and his work has been published in numerous books as well as DVDs.

Fritz's glass blowing skills and studio were mentioned on Chronicle, a popular Boston television news magazine. His work has been shown at museums and his ornaments have hung on the White House Christmas tree.

Fritz's work is also available at galleries, gift shops, and museums across the country. Check our dealer locations.
